The holidays are quickly appoaching and what better way to give back to the community than to donate a “Thanksgiving Basket” to the less fortunate. All hard work and fundraising really pays off in the end when you see the smiles on their faces.

Spoken – Lingo!

Yesterday Evening the Falcon Poetry Club, we had our first off campus open mic downtown at Port City Java hosted by Spoken Lingo. We were the featured Poets to perform for the night and we showed up and showed out! Indeed!

I cannot believe it’s been an entire month since i’ve updated the blog, wow! The Poetry Club has been really busy, and has alot of evens coming up as well! Last month was very eventful from homecoming to coronation! It was just amazing!

– Yeah that’s what i’m having a problem with now May, i tell you it’s the worst!

Word-Less (if that’s actually a word)

I’ve been busy for the pass couple of days, so i’ve been word-less.
Uncapable of coming up with words capable to describe how i am feeling.
Moving and Tuning the outside world out.
Inside out.
I am totally clueless as to how i’m rhyming these words,
with a wordless tongue.
and a blocked mind.
Maybe after all I do have words.

Tonight The Falcon Poetry Club partnered with Omega Psi Phi to host our first Open Mic of the year. It was a even better turn out than everyone was expecting. Everyone showed up with their talents, plenty hidden and some ready to speak. There were a bunch of highlights this evening from a young lady singing Jazmine Sullivan’s “I’m in Love with Another Man” to Anthony doing his cover of Chris Brown’s “Crawl” played on his acoustic guitar and every type of poetry you could imagine in between. Eventhough lots of students were unsure what the club had to offer we had little to prove by the end of the night I think we won their vote! I appreciate all the guess performers that came to rock the mic this evening, some last minute but as president of the club its great to see that everything went smoothly. Look out for our up and coming events!

Mimicry.

When people use art as an outlet to cure frustration its a powerful tool. Today, I ran into a good friend of mine that learned how to play the keys my memorization and mimicry. As good as he sounded practicing on the baby grand, it took me by surprise that he only had been playing for a year. No matter what appearance your art arrives in, it is still a form of poetry.
